ARCCU CO-OPERATIVE CREDIT UNION LTD. Union started as Axim Road Community Co-operative Credit Union in 1999 within the Axim Road cluster of schools in Takoradi. Initial membership was 32: made up mostly of teachers within the Axim Road cluster and a few artisans from Kokompe, Takoradi.

ARCCU was affiliated to Ghana Co-operative Credit Unions Association on 31st May, 2000 and registered with Ghana Co-operative Council on 28th July, 2000 with registration number WR/NC/190. The Union in 2006, due to its growth (about 4,000 members at the time) and also the diversification of its members, moved out of the school environment to a rented office in the heart of the Takoradi metropolis.

In 2010, the Union to reflect its community nature changed its name from Axim Road Community Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. To ARCCU Co-operative Credit Union Ltd.

ARCCU is presently in its own building proudly called ARCCU House; which is located at Top Ten, 60/4 Lorna Avenue with total general membership of 17,539.

ARCCU has four (4) Branches Namely: Takoradi, Kokompe, Apremdo and Kojokrom. Membership is open to all residents within the Sekondi-Takoradi metropolitan area. This stretches from Beposo to the east to Agona junction to the west.

As a financial institution, our core objective is to organize the people in the community, mobilize funds by means of regular savings by the members, and to help the people within our community borrow wisely in order to improve upon their living standards, by engaging themselves in provident and productive ventures.

This we believe will help reduce the poverty level of the members within the community.
Standing by its mission statement, the vision of the organization is to be an enviable non-banking financial institution in its operational area.
